Brand Identity
The Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C., is home to the world’s largest collection of Shakespeare materials and serves as a center for scholarship, performance, and public programs. Launched in 2022, the new visual identity repositions the institution with a voice that feels both historic and contemporary.

At its core is Puck Headline, a custom typeface developed with Tobias Frere-Jones, inspired by the Puck statue by Brenda Putnam (1932) at the building’s west entrance. The logo and broader typographic expression stem from this typeface, supported by a rich color system centered on red—drawn from the pervasive use of red in the First Folios—and extended with additional accent colors that complete the palette.

I worked closely with Abbott Miller (partner) as part of Pentagram’s creative team, contributing to early concepts and design development.
